Shikhin

Śikhin
dev-shikhin

Definition

Pada-deity of the NE corner of the BS plot scheme; the name (crested one) is a standard epithet of Agni, and Bhat glosses him as Agni at 53.50.
Classical

Prāṇa relevance

If Shikhin = Agni, inherits the Agni–jatharagni chain; head-position adds a fire-at-the-head datum. Not yet traced further.

Notes from other books

  • brihat53.71 calls the 32-pada door series "analādīnām" — of Anala (fire) and the rest — confirming Bhat's equation Śikhin = Anala for the NE corner deity (he translates it "beginning with Śikhin"). 53.119 separately uses śikhin as a common noun for fire. The NE pada-deity is fire-named twice over in the root text. Sanskrit read visually for both loci.
