Aśvattha (Ficus religiosa / peepal / pīpal / bodhi)

अश्वत्थaśvattha
flo-ashvattha

Definition

The peepal / bodhi tree (Ficus religiosa), one of the four holy Ficus assigned to directions in Vāstu. Svoboda: good results in the WEST, inauspicious in the EAST. ⚑ CONCURS with BS 53.85 (rul-fig-trees-by-direction), where Ashvattha is beneficial-W / untoward-E — identical pairing; flagged. NOTE a terminological tangle: BS 53.85 (Bhat) renders the N-tree as 'Peepal (likely plakṣa)' while Svoboda fixes peepal/pīpal = Aśvattha = Ficus religiosa = W — a possible English-name clash worth Phase-2 Sanskrit collation (flagged as a question).
