Constitution of a space (prakṛti of space)

प्रकृतिprakṛti

also: space-constitution, dwelling-prakriti, inborn-pattern-of-space

pra-prakriti-of-space

Definition

Svoboda's transfer of the Ayurvedic prakṛti (inborn doṣa-predominance, fixed at conception) onto a DWELLING: a space's intrinsic, structural doṣa-character — the vāta/pitta/kapha quality fixed by its shape, orientation, materials and margins, analogous to a body's inborn constitution. ⚑ [MODERN — Svoboda] — the explicit Ayurveda→architecture transfer (the headline bridge of ch. 3). Svoboda's counterpoint to it (vikṛti-of-space) is the one he says matters MORE in Vāstu.
Modern

Prāṇa relevance

The dwelling-side analogue of bodily prakṛti — the structural ground on which a space's effect on the resident's doṣas (and thereby prāṇa) plays out via 'like increases like'. Not yet traced to a specific prāṇa-physiology beyond the doṣa-resonance mechanism; the doṣas are 'more substantial than prāṇa' but 'less substantial than the Five Elements' (PDF p.065), so the chain space-prakṛti → space-doṣa → resident-doṣa → (denser-than-prāṇa) is one step from prāṇa but not closed here.

Other attributes

System Of Origin
ayurveda (transferred to vastu by Svoboda — system_of_origin = shared: ayurveda↔vastu)
Location In Body
n/a — a property of a built/bounded space, not a bodily locus (the transfer's whole point)
Function
Names the baseline doṣa-character a space is born with, against which its current condition is read. Per Svoboda the constitution 'strongly influences' the condition but in Vāstu is the LESS practically urgent of the pair (PDF p.060). Determined by enclosure: 'empty' spaces are defined by their margins and partitions (PDF p.082), which is where a space's prakṛti would be read.
