Condition of a space (vikṛti of space)
विकृतिvikṛti
also: space-condition, dwelling-vikriti, current-condition-of-space
pra-vikriti-of-spaceDefinition
Svoboda's transfer of the Ayurvedic vikṛti (current doṣa-condition, the disturbed/present state as against the inborn constitution) onto a DWELLING: a space's CURRENT doṣa-condition — its present dry/hot/heavy state as set by climate, season, contents, use and the people in it. ⚑ [MODERN — Svoboda], and the chapter's stressed point: 'While knowing your constitution is very important in Āyurveda, in Vāstu it is often MOST important to know your current condition' (PDF p.060). When a space 'goes bad' (duḥkha, lit. 'bad space'), the doṣas — and then the resident — go out of balance.
Modern
Prāṇa relevance
⚑ The most direct dwelling→prāṇa lever in the chapter: a space's condition acts on the resident's doṣas, and balanced doṣas 'preserve physical and mental health' (PDF p.060) — duḥkha is literally 'bad space', sukha 'good space'. The doṣas are 'more substantial than prāṇa... but less substantial than the Five Elements' (PDF p.065), so a deranged space-condition derangess the doṣas that sit just above prāṇa — the closest the chapter comes to a closed space→prāṇa chain (still one substantiality- layer short of prāṇa itself; flagged).

- A space whose current condition (vikriti) has 'gone bad' (duhkha, lit. 'bad space') throws the resident's doshas out of balance, and 'when that equilibrium is lost, disease becomes likely' (PDF p.060); the doshas sit just above prana in substantiality ('more substantial than prana... less substantial than the Five Elements', PDF p.065), so a deranged space-condition deranges the dosha-layer immediately above prana.

- System Of Origin
- ayurveda (transferred to vastu by Svoboda — shared: ayurveda↔vastu)
- Location In Body
- n/a — a property of a built/bounded space
- Function
- Names a space's present, changeable doṣa-state — the actionable target of Vāstu remediation. Because 'like increases like', a space whose condition is dry/hot/heavy increases vāta/pitta/kapha in its occupant (PDF pp.058–062); conversely a person's condition 'will tend to stamp itself on surrounding space', so one can 'read the doṣas of the people in a household just by noting how they arrange their living areas' (PDF p.062). Restoring 'good space' (sukha) restores the doṣas' balance.
