- The ascending-vs-descending CULTURAL typology is a direct corollary of the yuga cycle's two halves: in the DESCENDING half spiritual energy decreases from fullness (-> traditional/conservative/authoritarian cultures preserving past light), in the ASCENDING half it increases from deficiency (-> non-traditional/liberal/revolutionary cultures seeking a future truth). The mentality-rule originates in, and is derived from, the precessional half-cycle structure of the world-age rule.

- Statement
- The two halves of the precessional cycle have characteristic mentalities. In the DESCENDING half spiritual energy is decreasing from a point of fullness: descending cultures (e.g. the orient, ancient Egypt) are traditional, conservative, authoritarian — preserving the light of past ages of light, but prone to rigidity and a cult of the past. In the ASCENDING half spiritual energy is increasing from deficiency: ascending cultures (Greco-Roman-rooted Western culture, America) are non-traditional, liberal, revolutionary — seeking a future-defined truth, free and creative but often superficial, materialistic and immature. The needed integration combines the freedom/ humanitarianism of the ascending mind with the reverence/spirituality of the descending mind. The strong East/West, spiritual/material, ancient/modern divisions of today reflect this split.
