The six steps of building from the ground up
rul-build-sequence-svobodaPrāṇa relevance
The sequence is the procedural frame for everything downstream; per se it is method, not a prāṇa mechanism. Its one prāṇa-laden criterion is step-3's evaluation of a site 'from the inside out… about its prāṇa and soul', and the recurring question 'What can materialize in this space, and how?'. Otherwise not yet traced.

- Statement
- Building proceeds step-by-step from the first longing to build until the owner enters the finished edifice: (1) establishing the NEED for a building (a definitive need, not a capricious craving; nobility in useful/charitable structures; a sincere desire to do it right within budget; a facade that fits its surroundings and neighbors); (2) selecting an ARCHITECT (first a Vāstu-fluent designer with feel for edifice↔environment; else one who plans for utility, stability, beauty — the greatest utility being 'a space in which your soul has room to grow'); (3) investigating and selecting the LAND; (4) fixing plot boundaries, buildable area, location, orientation; (5) selecting MATERIALS, designing the building and ancillary structures, setting prime dimensions; (6) GROUNDBREAKING and first entrance.

- Conditions
- Before meeting the architect, ponder 'What can materialize in this space, and how?' in light of one's chief life-goal (puruṣārtha: dharma/artha/kāma/mokṣa), nature (varṇa: brāhmaṇa/kṣatriya/vaiśya/śūdra — each with its own 'Vāstu palette'), and life-stage (āśrama: brahmacarya/gṛhastha/vānaprastha/sannyāsa).
- Exceptions
- ch. 10 itself covers steps 1–3 (and the start of 4); steps 4(rest)–6 (materials, dimensions, groundbreaking, doors, basement, facade) are treated in other chapters [SCOPE NOTE].
