Svoboda's element↔direction roster (Fire-SE, Air-NW, Water-NE, SW/center = Space-or-Earth)
—
rul-element-direction-scheme-svobodaPrāṇa relevance
The element-scheme decides how direction→element→doṣa→body is drawn. Svoboda's Water-NE and Air-NW are the load-bearing intercardinal values; the SW/center Space-or-Earth ambiguity is exactly where the prāṇa-bearing element (Ākāśa) floats — and SW's impeded prāṇa-flow (kapha obstruction → vāta) is read off this scheme (doṣa circulation, p.157).

- Statement
- Quartering the square-aligned Vāstu Puruṣa Maṇḍala arranges the Five Great Elements in space: Fire in the southeast, Air in the northwest, Water in the northeast, while the southwest represents EITHER Space OR Earth (authorities disagree) and the fifth of the two (the one not at SW) sits at the stable center. The intermediate-direction significances derive from the sun's seasonal rising/setting points.

- Conditions
- Holds the roster as a comparable rule so it can be set scheme-against-scheme (§8) against BS 53/54.3 and the Phase-2 manuals.
- Exceptions
- Svoboda's own self-flagged ambiguity at SW/center (Space vs Earth).
