Statement
A planet with malefics in BOTH adjacent signs is 'hemmed in by malefics' (weakened); with benefics in both adjacent signs, 'hemmed in by benefics' (protected/strengthened). Though not technically an aspect, the effect is strong like a major aspect. A weaker analogue forms by malefic/benefic full ASPECTS on the adjacent signs. Hemming by malefics can be countered by a benefic full aspect (and vice versa).
