- Widths run 32 down to 16 hasta in steps of 4: Brahmanas five sizes (32–16), Kshatriyas four (28–16), Vaishyas three (24–16), Shudras two (20, 16); the lowest classes smaller still. Length exceeds breadth by 1/10, 1/8, 1/6, 1/4 for the four varnas respectively. Persons of mixed parentage take the average of the two parental measures.
