- Statement
- A Mahapurusha ('great person') Yoga forms when one of the five major planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn — NOT Sun/Moon) is in its own sign or exalted AND simultaneously in an angle (kendra: 1/4/7/10) from the Ascendant or the Moon. It magnifies that planet's qualities and stamps the chart with its nature, often giving the person the planet's physical type. The five: Ruchaka (Mars, 'radiant'), Bhadra (Mercury, 'auspicious'), Hamsa (Jupiter, 'swan'/spiritual knowledge), Malavya (Venus), Shasha (Saturn). Strongest in the 10th house, or from both Ascendant and Moon, or when the planet is final dispositor / rules many planets / exchanges signs. Poorly aspected, the same yoga can RUIN the planet's qualities; malefic Mahapurusha (Mars, Saturn) can create tyrants.

- Conditions
- one of the 5 major planets in own-sign/exaltation AND in a kendra from Lagna or Moon
- Exceptions
- Sun and Moon excluded; weak placement nullifies; poor aspect inverts to destruction
- Per Planet Yoga
- {"mars":"Ruchaka — courage, force of will, leadership, action; martial-type people; Tamasic side → domination/violence","mercury":"Bhadra — speech, intellect, commerce, wit, balanced psychology; Rajasic side → acquisitive mind","jupiter":"Hamsa — ethical/philosophical/religious nature, optimism, prosperity; superficial side → self-promotion","venus":"Malavya — comfort, vehicles, beauty, charm, artistic talent; higher → powers of devotion","saturn":"Shasha — authority, control of resources, work capacity; cruel side → selfish/ruthless; higher → detachment, spiritual insight"}
- Modern Framing Note
- [MODERN — Frawley] illustrates the malefic case with 'the chart of Hitler' (a Mars/Ruchaka). The guna readings (Tamasic Mars, Rajasic Mercury) are his interpretive overlay (gun- hooks).
