Planetary significators by degree (the seven chara-karakas)

Prāṇa relevance

The Atmakaraka is the soul/self significator — the chart factor closest to the jiva/atman the project's prana axis ultimately points at (the Sun-as-soul motif of BS I). Frawley keeps it psychological/spiritual (aspirations of the soul), not a bodily-prana physiology. A notable cosmos↔self node nonetheless.

Statement
A system unique to Vedic astrology: rank the seven major planets by how many degrees (and minutes) they occupy WITHIN their sign (ignoring which sign), highest first. The planet with the highest degrees is the Atmakaraka ('significator of the self', the soul-indicator — often the most powerful planet, read as the Ascendant of the Navamsha); 2nd = Amatyakaraka (confidant/minister → 'significator of the mind'); 3rd = Bhratrikaraka (brothers → 'energy/ will'); 4th = Matriputrakaraka (mother & children → 'creativity'); 5th = Pitrikaraka (father → 'dharma'); 6th = Jnatikaraka (relatives → 'the world'); 7th = Strikaraka (wife/spouse → 'relationship'). Examine each significator (especially the Atmakaraka) in the harmonic charts.
