Remediation of defective / inauspicious space
—
rul-remediation-of-defective-spacePrāṇa relevance
Indirect but real: remediation aims to restore 'good space' (sukha) over 'bad space' (duḥkha), and a space's condition acts on the resident's doṣas (ch.3, rul-dosha-of-space) which sit just above prāṇa; clearing prior-resident residue and freeing prāṇa-circulation (open centers, right cubicle heights) is the operative lever. The doṣa→prāṇa final step is not spelled out as physiology (as in ch.3). prana_relevance: via doṣa-of-space and prāṇa-circulation, not a closed chain.

- Statement
- A site or structure with an inauspicious feature can be REMEDIED rather than rejected. Worked examples Svoboda gives: a south-facing plot (with its 'overly Martian oomph') may be remedied by circling the house with a high, strong wall, putting the main GATE in an auspicious south-segment (e.g. the 4th, 5th, or 6th of nine equal divisions counted east-to-west), then placing the actual house entrance on a better side like the east — or (Vimalananda's advice) by extending a long driveway along the property's EASTERN periphery so the de-facto entrance becomes the northeast. More generally: choose materials that protect against whichever of the Five Elements is locally excessive; correct cubicle/wall heights that derange air/prāṇa; keep marma-points and centers unbuilt; and use the construction rites (Vāstu-pūjā) to clear undesirable subtle energies (especially those left by previous residents). Vāstu can even re-concord an inherited home whose 'attribute profile' no longer jibes with the new owner's. [MODERN — Svoboda's applied framing, over a TRADITIONAL Vāstu remediation premise].

- Conditions
- applies where a feature is fixed/inauspicious (orientation, road position, prior-resident residue, climate excess); remedy reroutes the de-facto entrance, screens the defect, or re-concords owner-to-house
- Exceptions
- Svoboda is skeptical of dogmatic fatalism — 'we must take several grains of salt' when a 'Vāstu specialist' claims e.g. that a SW portico 'will cause the death of a child… disputes, and loss of wealth'; confluence and common sense temper rule-bound prediction.
