Vedic astrology usually treats retrograde as a sign of STRENGTH (e.g. retrograde Jupiter good for children), reversing the conventional Western 'difficulty/delay' view. Retrograde may reverse a planet's energy (exalted planets lose, debilitated gain strength when retrograde), internalize it (retro Mercury → introverted intellect, occult/historical interests; afflicted → nervousness/speech difficulty), and often indicates a karmic result / past influence to be consolidated inward.
