- The Sun is the source of the vital breath (prāṇa) of all living creatures: by the rays of the Sun all creatures are endowed with their vital breaths, the rays extending downward to those breaths. The rising sun, on whose light and heat life depends, supplies directionality (structuring space and time) and, 'most importantly', our prāṇa; it is our most perfect representation of the unrepresentable Absolute.
