- Statement
- Worship the chosen tree with food overnight; cut by day beginning from its NE side, clockwise. A fall to the north or east is blest; any other fall rejects the tree. A natural-looking cut marks good house timber; colored rings in the cross-section betray contents — yellowish: an alligator(?); madder: a frog; bluish: a reptile; red: a chameleon; gram-green: a stone; tawny: a rat; sword-dark: water.
