Placement SvobodaFilledper txt-svoboda-vastu
Any of the CARDINAL directions, but most commentators suggest the WEST ('a desirably Saturnian dimension to the act of eating'); location 'less important than self-control during meals'. Banish TV/radio; observe silence while eating; a hanging light over the table's centre is tolerable (not a śūla, being away from head/heart).

Svoboda: the dining room may be any cardinal, but most commentators prefer the WEST, lending 'a desirably Saturnian dimension to the act of eating'. (Svoboda does not himself cite Kiranakhya/Utpala; the cross-reference is ours: BS's commentary scheme via Utpala also places the dining hall in the WEST - a concurrence.)

Notes from other books

  • txt-svoboda-vastuSvoboda's dining-WEST (Saturn) CONCURS with the BS commentary's dining-WEST (Kiranakhya/Utpala). The substantive content is the Ayurvedic EATING rules (face east; right-nostril breath enkindles digestive fire) — captured as act-eating + pra-nadi-svara below, the prāṇa-spine of this room.
