Statement

The front wall of a dwelling is divided into NINE equal segments, each ruled by one of the Nine Grahas in the order Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rāhu, Ketu (the weekday progression). For an east- or west-facing wall, assign from the northern corner southward; for a north- or south-facing wall, from the eastern corner westward. The planet that rules the wall-segment in which the front door falls has a 'substantially magnified' influence on the inhabitants' lives, compounding the influence of the direction the door faces. As a general rule the door should fall in a segment ruled by an auspicious planet (Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, or Venus), which promote sukha; the malefic segments (Ketu, Rāhu, Mars, Saturn; Sun neutral) blight it 'to some extent', though the direst effects need a clear confluence to develop.

Conditions

Measure the front wall, divide by nine; the door's segment is read off the assignment-start corner per facing. Confluence (matching direction, weekday, colour, materials) magnifies the segment-planet's effect (Marie's north-facing Venus door = double-auspicious).

Exceptions

A door straddling two segments is assigned to the one holding most of it (Marie's door: ~3/4 in the Venus 6th → Venus). A door in a malefic segment is NOT cause to demolish; obstruct/yantra/balance instead. Concentrated benefic energy (a Mercury door for a north-facing house) can itself overwhelm an occupant who can't 'digest' it.
