चतुरस्रcaturasra
also: square-floor-plan, caturasra, earth-square
frm-square-planDefinition
The four-equal-sided, four-right-angled plan — 'the shape of Earth, the most stable and reliable of the Five Elements'. Vāstu's PREFERRED structural form (with the rectangle, treated as equivalent). Inherent stability (cf. a four-legged chair describing a square on the ground). The Vedic vedi (fire-altar) is square so it can safely contain the transforming fire. [MODERN — Svoboda].

corresponds-to · 1
- Svoboda: 'Square is the shape of Earth, the most stable and reliable of the Five Elements.' The square plan symbolically IS the Earth element — its four equal sides / four ground-points expressing Earth's stability (cf. the four-legged chair).

- Beyond the symbolic identity (c8), Svoboda makes a causal stability claim: the square's Earth-resonance gives a building stability and 'a square room benefits from the stability of its square, Earthy base'; geometrical regularity 'promotes regularity of prāṇa flow even in the presence of other potentially prāṇa-confusing features.' The square form actively enhances stable Earth-grounded prāṇa-flow.
