Directional SeatFilledper txt-svoboda-vastu
⚑ Sattva is seated in the NORTHEAST corner: 'Northeast stands for sattva, the future we aim for'; NE light has 'a sattvic, Jovian flavor'; 'spend more time in the northeast and you will become more sattvic'. The Vāstu Puruṣa's perceptive HEAD lies here; NE is 'the direction in which our lives are headed'. Part of Svoboda's clockwise guṇa cycle sattva→rajas→tamas→rajas (NE→SE→SW→NW).
Guna Of DwellingFilledper txt-svoboda-vastu
⚑ Every space should ultimately promote sattva, because sattva harmonizes and harmony points toward sukha; the meditation space should be the MOST sattvic space of all — the household's 'sattva storehouse'. Among the five elements Space is the most sattvic; Fire is sattvic-and-rajasic; harmoniously arrayed Water+Earth promote sattva.
PhenomenologyFilledper txt-svoboda-vastu
Sattva (equilibrium): 'the subjective consciousness that we use to model, illuminate, and ponder over our environments'; progenitor of the thinking mind and the ten senses. When sattva works well 'your mind perceives situations accurately, and responds appropriately without the overreaction of rajas or the confusion of tamas.' Sattvic substances/scenes (lotuses, documentaries) transmit sattva to the perceiver.

  • Svoboda: 'Space is the most sattvic element, the most conducive for equilibrium' (PDF p.079). Among the five Great Elements, akasha is ranked the most sattvic — the element most aligned with the equilibrium-guna; the sattva storehouse (meditation space) is the most sattvic, akasha-dominant region.
  • Sun (Surya)Traditional
Frawley's guna table places the Sun among the Sattvic planets (Sun, Moon, Jupiter); secondary rajas ('it provides not only perception but energy').
  • Moon (Chandra)Traditional
Frawley's guna table places the Moon among the Sattvic planets ('a Sattvic or spiritual planet'), with secondary tamas ('has some Tamas or cloudiness to it').
  • Jupiter (Brihaspati)Traditional
Frawley's guna table; Jupiter 'a spiritual and ethical (Sattvic) planet' which 'will raise the soul upwards.'
  • NE confluence: 'Northeast stands for sattva, the future we aim for' (PDF p.190); NE light has 'a sattvic, Jovian flavor'; more time in NE -> more sattvic. The guna leg of the NE confluence; the self-flagged-unconventional directions<->gunas equation.

  • txt-svoboda-vastuFills the bare STUB Frawley's medical theme minted (gunas 'not developed' there). Svoboda develops the guṇas as a property of SPACE: each room should promote 'the guṇa that belongs there'. Sattva is the universal target (sukha-ward). Mint connection sattva—corresponds-to→ele-akasha (Space most sattvic).
