Svoboda's planet↔direction roster (the graha-dik scheme Vāstu employs most often)

Prāṇa relevance

⚑ The planet↔direction roster is the hinge where Jyotiṣa (the grahas, the 'time axis' / dynamic view) meets Vāstu (the static directions), adding a dynamic dimension to the directional apparatus (p163). Its prāṇa link runs through the existing direction→element→doṣa chain (Venus-SE=Fire=pitta etc.) AND through Svoboda's own ch.6 Sun→prāṇa doctrine: the Sun rules the East, the prāṇa-source bearing (rul-sun-provides-prana). Svoboda closes the chapter on prāṇa explicitly — 'all of Vāstu is based firmly in… the "fitness" of space; Vāstu speaks in "prāṇa language"… check it against the gut feeling of your prāṇa' (p178–179) — so the graha-direction layer, like every Vāstu idiom, is meant to be validated by pranic feel. The roster itself is a placement scheme, not a physiology; its prana weight is borrowed from the direction/element/Sun chains it overlays. Trace: borrowed, not new.

  • Svoboda's 8-bearing graha-dik roster (Sun-E, Venus-SE, Mars-S, Rāhu&Ketu-SW, Saturn-W, Moon-NW, Mercury-N, Jupiter-NE) is IDENTICAL to Frawley's WORSHIP/compass scheme (rul-graha-direction-schemes-frawley, school_position 1) and to the BS Book-1 claimed-classical-but-unpinned roster — three independent witnesses on one mapping. The correspondence is at the worship/compass layer; Frawley's separate 9-fold ALTAR scheme (Sun-center, Venus-E, Ketu-NW…) DIVERGES from both and is the contrast case.

Statement
Vāstu most commonly correlates the Nine Grahas with the eight compass bearings as: the Sun presides over the EAST, Venus the SOUTHEAST, Mars the SOUTH, Rāhu and Ketu (the Moon's Nodes) jointly the SOUTHWEST, Saturn the WEST, the Moon the NORTHWEST, Mercury the NORTH, and Jupiter the NORTHEAST. This graha roster 'recapitulates' the Regents of the Ten Directions (Sun~Indra-E, Mars~Yama-S, Saturn~Varuṇa-W, Mercury~Kubera-N) and pairs the intercardinal planets with the elements of that bearing (Venus-SE=Fire, Moon-NW=Air, Jupiter-NE=Water, Nodes-SW=Space+Earth). When a direction becomes significant (the front door's facing, the head's direction in sleep), the ruling planet's traits become more prominent in the resident's life.

TRADITIONAL
Conditions
claimed-classical: 'the scheme that Vāstu employs most often' — Svoboda transmits it WITHOUT pinning a root verse, and EXPLICITLY notes that the five chief Jyotiṣa styles (Pārāśari, Jaimini, Nāḍi, Tāntrika, Tājika) offer MORE THAN ONE planet↔direction system (p167). It is an 8-bearing roster: both lunar nodes share the SW.
Exceptions
Svoboda cautions against over-enhancing the dark/tamasic planets ruling South, Southwest and West (Mars, Rāhu/Ketu, Saturn) (p176). The roster is one of several valid 'languages' of Vāstu (Five Elements / guṇas / doṣas / dikpālas / grahas), to be used by personal affinity (p178).

Cross Book Note
⚑ THE ★★★ FINDING: Svoboda's graha-dik roster is byte-for-byte the SAME mapping that (a) BS Book-1 flagged as claimed-classical-but-unpinned on dir-agneya.graha, and (b) Frawley gave as his WORSHIP scheme. Three independent witnesses (BS-tradition note, Frawley 2013, Svoboda 2013) now concur on this exact 8-bearing roster — yet ALL THREE are unpinned: Svoboda calls it merely 'the scheme that Vāstu employs most often' and flags that the Jyotiṣa schools run several. By schema §7, three modern/traditional concurrences do NOT promote the BS claimed-classical note to CLASSICAL — they raise its TRADITIONAL confidence and sharpen the Phase-2 target (find the earliest root pin). The CONTRAST case is Frawley's 9-bearing ALTAR scheme (Sun-center, Venus-E, Ketu-NW…), which DIVERGES — so 'the planet-direction scheme' is itself plural, exactly as Svoboda warns.
