Principle / Ruledraft· Svoboda — Vāstu
Vāstu's purpose is sukha — 'good space' = good health; duḥkha = 'bad space'
sukha
rul-vastu-sukhaPrāṇa relevance
⚑ The chapter's explicit space→prāṇa→revitalization pole: head+heart 'cooperating with your prāṇa' → sukha flows in → revitalization (PDF p.053). 'Good space' is the health pole the doṣa/guṇa machinery of ch.3 targets (cf. rul-dosha-of-space's sukha/duḥkha = good/bad space). Here sukha is stated as a felt inflow that revitalizes prāṇa, the most prāṇa-direct sentence in the framing chapter — though the physiology of 'sukha flowing in' is left as felt experience, not mechanism. Strong, interpretive.

- Svoboda: 'Vāstu is the study of "space saṁskāras," of methods for turning ordinary or "aggrieved" spaces into "good spaces".' A space-saṁskāra (a 'thing done well' to a dwelling — tweaking its dimensions/shapes/arrangements) is precisely the operation that produces 'good space' (sukha). So laying a saṁskāra on a space SUPPORTS the sukha-target of rul-vastu-sukha. Parallels the mind-saṁskāra that reorders the learner's thought faculties to create a 'literal good space within the student.'

- Statement
- Most Vāstu specialists agree Vāstu's purpose is to create sacred, convivial spaces for body, mind and spirit. 'Good space' in the outer world results from orderly, healthy spatial relationships; every space is 'a field in flux with which you form a (hopefully nourishing) relationship.' The vidyās each focus on one aspect of 'the sukha equation' and together pave the path to sukha. ⚑ When head and heart work together, 'both cooperating with your prāṇa, sukha will begin to flow into you and revitalize you of its own accord.' The intuitive feel for a space outranks calculation: 'Any site becomes auspicious for a person, provided that it gladdens his heart' (Bṛhat Saṁhitā 53:95b) — your instinctive impressions count for more than rational analysis.

- Conditions
- Good space arises from orderly/healthy spatial relationships and from listening to the heart's 'sacred intuition'; reading with the heart (not only the mind) lets sukha flow and revitalize the reader.
- Exceptions
- A heart-gladdening site with detected Vāstu problems does NOT make the problems vanish — but suggests you will summon the energy/enthusiasm to deal with them (Svoboda's gloss on BS 53:95b).
